"Every Saturday session is packed with a different programme"
I have been a fit camp prisoner since the start in January 2009.
I started weighing in at 15 stone and I am now becoming a well toned under 14 stone prisoner.
When I started Fit Camp I could barely run from lamppost to lamppost without being seriously out of breathe and using my inhaler and now on 8th June 2009 I was able to complete my first charity 10k run in 52 minutes. My stamina for the exercises has improved greatly too as when I started I found it difficult to complete all exercises so I was encouraged to continue at my own pace and assured I would get better and now can honestly say I am loads fitter.
On Saturday mornings I truly believe Fit Camp is a challenge and I always give my best but only with constant support and motivation from Dave and Si. Every Saturday session is packed with a different programme of exercises and running which I truly benefit from and enjoy. The atmosphere is always friendly amongst the trainers and fellow prisoners all of which strive to encourage each other.

I have been a fit camp prisoner since the start in January 2009.
When I started Fit Camp I thought i was pretty fit and quite strong.... how wrong was I!
The first two sessions where grawling I had been used to going to the gym 4-5 times a week, but I have never worked so hard in my life. From running to boxing, to kicking to resistence exercises, within 1 hour you do the lot.... every muscle is worked
Normally on a hard work out in the gym i would burn 900 calories in an hour, at Fit Camp I burn between 2000 to 2500 calories yes that is right..and the benefits are i have taken 1 inch of my waste and my fitness levels have gone through the roof.
I used to run 4 miles in 45 minutes, I can now comfortably run 4 miles in 35 minutes.... Fit Camp really does provide some serious results quickly.

I had no idea what to expect when my ‘friend’ Gary dragged me, kicking and screaming, to Boot Camp ! I have quite a sedentary job where I spend much of the week either travelling long distances by car or hours sitting at a desk. Like many people with jobs like mine I desperately need to find time, and the inclination, to fit in exercise. One of the things I’ve found most enjoyable and most beneficial about Boot Camp is that the first class instructors, Dave and Simon (top guys), are really encouraging and motivate me to get the best out of each Saturday morning session. They do push you hard although always within the limits of what they know you can achieve!
Given that I’m not in the first flush of youth I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the fact that I’ve been able to join in all the activities albeit at a slower and more measured pace than some of the super-fit members of Boot Camp. Dave and Simon take great care to assess each individual’s ability and then tailor the exercises to accommodate the needs of all the Boot Camp ‘prisoners’. Add to this the camaraderie of everyone involved and come rain or shine, you have a recipe for one of the best possible ways to spend a Saturday morning.
If you’re anything like me, after a busy week you may feel you deserve a bit of a lie in on a Saturday morning. Believe me Boot Camp offers a far better alternative. By the end of the session I’ll guarantee you’ll feel a lot fitter and far more energised and ready to enjoy the remainder of the weekend than you would if you’d spent another hour under the duvet!
Boot Camp really is great fun.

I passed my army selection today!
Previous to Fit Camp UK, my workout experience had not been very effective and I found myself doing the same old thing without any drive. Dave Hughes and Simon McNeilly bring a tremendous amount of enthusiasm, energy and experience to the workouts. I am consistently and constantly challenged by new exercises. The variety of exercise and the balanced approach Dave and Simon created has helped me in finding new ways to challenge myself. I am much more energetic and happier me!
I have dropped from 22% body fat to 18% while adding strength and flexibility
The last 5 months have transformed my fitness levels and I am now looking forward to my first ever 10 k charity run and Fitbrit 2009 Challenge run by David Hughes, Simon Mcneilly & MensFitness magazine.
Also on passing my Army selection
Dave and Simon.
Just wanted to say thanks for the fitness beastings. I passed my army selection today! I can safely say your training has helped me get switched on and get through. My 2.4K run time was 9mins 13 secs. Before I started Fit-Camp my 2.4K time was 11mins 30secs.

If you’re getting fed up with the gym or indoors, fit camp is the way to go!
If you’re getting fed up with the gym or indoors, fit camp is the way to go!
My name is Diana and i have been going to fit camp since it first started and I continue to go, that's how good it is.
When i first started i didn't know what to expect, but after going for several weeks I love it and look forward to going every week. The location is mainly outdoor and the exercise is varied from power walking, running, kick boxing, small weights and many more, but the exercises are different every week. This all helps with weight loss, toning, stamina and strength.
There is also some team work which is fun and you are able to get to know everyone within the group which becomes a social network, but you’re improving your fitness at the same time. You are trained to your individual limitations but if you want to work harder you can it’s your choice.
The trainers Simon and Dave are always there to give you guidance, encouragement and motivation, All I can say is try fit camp and your never look back, in fact you will wish you had tried it before and believe me your fitness levels will improve my certainly have.

News from the front line……
Those of a certain age may remember Willie Whitelaw and his “short sharp shock for young offenders”. Well it may have gone down well with the blue rinse brigade at the Conservative party conference but it didn’t work. It simply produced fitter, stronger criminals than ever before.
Well his dream has been reincarnated at ‘Boot Camp’ and life here is conducted at the same “brisk tempo” that the tea-supper envisaged. I came upon it by chance while walking early on a Saturday morning in Tamworth Park. I’m now a devotee and one of this clandestine group.
They meet at grey dawn (well 08.50am) as impressive a group of lean fighting men (well of all ages, shapes, sizes ) as you’re likely to see. They engage in the virile hokum, the austere regime, which is Boot Camp. You’ll find no chiselled hunks, except perhaps for the two instructors, Dave and Simon, fully qualified personal trainers. You will find a very supportive group of men and women enjoying healthy exercise in the great outdoors. It’s an energising way to start your weekend and above all good fun. Just try it – the first sessions free anyway – you’ll lap it up ! Go under an assumed name. As with entry to Australia criminal convictions are no longer a requirement.

Fit Camp UK is hard work!!
The days of lying in on a Saturday morning eating sausage sandwiches and drinking copious cups of coffee are long gone, as is the 13% body fat that I have lost since starting fit camp!!
Fit camp is perfect for me as it keeps me interested by doing something different each week and by providing me with the crucial motivation that I need!! Working in groups and under the watchful eye of the instructors I am encouraged every step of the way to push myself to my limit and not give up!! Plus with certain prisoners in my sights that I want to beat, it motivates me to train hard during the week too!
Fit camp is hard and I always leave absolutely exhausted but the high that I feel when I get home is amazing!! I love It!! Although I am tired, sore, out of breath, feeling worked and dripping in sweat (or rain) it is fun!! The prisoners are a great bunch , really friendly and we do have a laugh!
The instructors are brilliant!! Both Dave and Simon really know their stuff and are always finding new ways to make my life challenging!! They really work us hard but at the same time are always keeping a caring eye on us to make sure that we are alright!! Simon has sorted out why i was getting cramp? (thanks for that by the way dude). Plus they are genuinely nice guys!! Thanks to fit camp I am so close to reaching my goals!! Come On!!!!!!
